Driftwood RV Park in Harbor, Oregon is a beautiful RV park situated across the street from the incredible Pacific Ocean as well as walking distance from just about everything that the little town of Harbor has to offer.
Owned by the Thompson family since 1968 and once known as the ‘Driftwood Travel Trailer Retreat’ this little RV park has seen it all! The grand opening announcement found in the local paper known as the Pilot stated that the Driftwood Travel Trailer Retreat featured ‘Drive Thru Spaces, Laundry Facilities, a Recreation Room and All Electrical & Sanitary Hook-ups’.
Today the park is run by sisters, Janet Thompson Gerlach and Betty Thompson Bishop and they do such a great job! We had the privilege of staying at Driftwood RV park for a couple of months this winter and were very sad to have to leave. So much so that we stayed for an extra month! Instead of one month we stayed for two.
The Oregon coast is a mere 5 minute walk from the RV park. The views are spectacular and the sunsets are breathtaking at the local beach. The surf carries enormous logs to the shore and when the tide recedes it brings these once standing giants back into the ocean only to return them to shore during high tide. This process ensures that the topography along the beach changes frequently. You may come to the beach on one day and soak up the scenery and upon returning the next day, the shore looks totally different.
After your trip to the beach take a minute to stop at Zola’s Pizzeria or Slugs and Stones Ice Cream, the local business owners are so welcoming that you always feel like a regular, even your first time there!
There is so much to do in the area and when it’s time to come back to the RV at the end of the day, pulling into the park is just like coming home.
