Horsetheif Falls is located on Hwy 67 between Divide and Cripple Creek and is one of three trails that is located in this area. Pancake Rocks and Sentinal Point also share the same trailhead.
The trail rises steeply for about .08 miles and then begins to level out. At this point the trail splits and you can head left to the Sentinel Point Trail (#704) which is part of the Ring the Peak system or you can continue straight until you come to the sign that will point you to the right which is the Pancake Rocks Trail (#704a) or continue heading east for 1.5 miles to Horsethief Falls (#704b).
Horsethief Falls is the shortest hike in distance of the three trails, 2.6 miles round trip. However, it is not uncommon to hike to Horsethief Falls and then continue on to Pancake Rocks. Hiking both trails is approx 7.2 miles round trip.
If you take this hike, and I recommend that you do, start early in the morning, this way if you decide to hike on up to Pancake Rocks after Horsethief Falls you have plenty of time to do so before those “Colorado Afternoon Storms” hit.
