Featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, The Shaved Duck was a restaurant that just had to be tried! Also because I really liked the name! We called up the daughter to see if baby Wyatt could come out to dinner and bring his parents with him. She said he was available and that they would meet us there.
The Shaved Duck is a small place, but it wasn’t too crowded. We found a table and ordered some appetizers: Duck Confit, Buttermilk Cornbread and Walnut & Brown Sugar Bacon. I had never heard of ‘bacon’ as an appetizer so I had to try it, and boy am I glad I did. It was fabulous! It was served with pears and bleu cheese (also an enigma to me) and it went very well together.
After the appetizers the band began to play and we figured that it may be a little loud for baby Wyatt so we moved to the outside dining area and awaited our family. It was not too long before they arrived and we ordered our main courses. I figured since we were at a duck place I should order duck, so I ordered the Slow Smoked Duck Breast served with cherry juniper jam and sauteed brussel sprouts. It was a wonderful meal with wonderful people and a fantastic memory.
